Frequently Asked Questions

This brief tutorial shows you the first steps to do in the app. You can move between the pages with the left menu. To open it, press on the button at the left in the top menu of each page. Starting from the accounts page, create the accounts at your disposal, such as "Bank". In these accounts, set as initial amount the amount that you have in each of them. Then, you can start off creating some income and expenses or, alternatively, you can create multiple budget if you are interested in this feature. Remember that in each page of the app, if you press on the button with 3 dots in the top menu, you can find a useful help section for that specific page. As soon as you become familiar with Fast Budget, you can start to customize the application preferences and settings. The Pro version and the other plans can be purchased in the "Store" page within the app. To avoid data loss, like if you uninstall the app or lose the device, it is highly recommended to enable the backups on Dropbox. You can do this in the Settings page.
In order to create a new transaction, you have to press the button with a + sign in the bottom-right part of the Overview and Income/Expenses pages. Moreover, you can enter new transactions through the 2 available widgets.
It is possible to create new scheduled transactions in the right tab of "New transaction" page. You can see your scheduled expenses in the right tab of the Expenses page. To change tab, use the 2 buttons under the title of the page.
You can create a new budget in the "Budget" page. Press the + button in the top menu. It is possible to create a budget for a single category, or for more than one with the multi-category budgets. During the creation a budget, you will be asked to choose the category you want to measure and the budget duration: 1 week, 1 month, 1 year or custom length. If you choose the latter, additional options will be shown: you can choose the period, whether to reactivate the budget once concluded and after how long reactivate it. Here there is an example for the "Fuel" category. Budget value: 100$. In the "Budgets" page, create a monthly, single category budget. Select "Fuel" as the category of the budget. Fill the other fields and hit "Save". If you haven't already created a transaction for the "Fuel" category, the new budget will be displayed with the bar empty, showing 0% of amount spent. Tomorrow you'll go to refuel your car. You'll open the app and add an expense: Select "Fuel" as the category and insert the amount spent. For example, 30.00$. This transaction will be automatically added to your budget: Your budget for the "Fuel" category now will show 30.00$ and the bar will be filled to the 30% of it. (Remaining amount: 70.00$)
There could be several reasons: • In the budget value, also the scheduled transactions are included. If a scheduled transaction is repeated several times in the period, every repetition will be inserted in the budget value. • You can have a hidden account (Only for Pro users): the transactions created in a hidden account are not counted in the budgets.
To speed up the insertion of a transaction, there are basically four methods: • Select a default account(Preferences -> New transactions). This account will be selected for each new operation, but you can still change it. • Create a transaction template(Preferences -> Transaction templates). Once you have added a new transaction template, just press the star in the top menu of page where you can add new transactions. • Reorder the categories to have the more utilized at the top of the list(Preferences -> Categories management). • Enter the transactions from the 2 present widgets.
A backup is a file that contain your data. You can't open it. It can be used only inside the app and it is used to keep you data safe and to move your data between devices. You can create a backup in the Settings page, Backup section. If you set the auto-save option (strongly recommended), a backup is created every day at the specified time. The name of these backups will be "AutoBackup_", followed by, in order: Year, month, day, hour and minute of when it was created. If you uninstall the app, the automatic backups will be deleted unless they are saved in Dropbox. The automatic backups will be created in the internal memory of your phone, and in the "Apps/FastBudget/Backup" folder in Dropbox. It's possible to set the maximum number of automatic backups stored in memory. If this limit is exceeded, the older ones will be deleted. You can restore a backup in the same section. Backups saved in the device and in Dropbox are not shown at the same time. When you retrieve data from a backup, the current database is deleted.

There are 3 different type of in-app purchases: the Pro version, the icon packs and the subscriptions. The first two types are single purchases. You need to buy them only once. The latter type are the subscriptions and must be renewed over time. There are 2 different type of subscriptions: • Advanced plan: sync up to 2 devices. • Premium plan: sync up to 5 devices, website access and all the icon packs unlocked. Both plans give access to all the features of the Pro version and allow to export PDF reports.
In order to synchronize your data, you must have an active subscription. Purchase the synchronization in the "Store" section with your main device. The first time you connect your devices, you can keep the data only of the first device that you connect. To enable the device to the synchronization, you have to go in the "User" page, "Synchronization" section. Your device must be listed in the list. Then, take your other devices, log in with the same credentials and go in the "Synchronization" page. At this point, all your devices will have the same data. The synchronization will occur automatically when you open the app. When you want to force a synchronization, tap on the icon in the top menu of the Overview page. After a synchronization, the new data will be displayed when the page will be refreshed. In this way you can continue to work with the app.
