Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Fast Budget account by requiring a 6-digit verification code from an authenticator app each time you sign in.
Activate this feature only if you have a plan that grants the data synchronization. Without a plan, your app data is saved only locally on your device.
How to enable Two-Factor Authentication in the web app
Follow these steps to set up 2FA on your account:
• Go to the "User" page from the sidebar menu.
• In the "Two-factor authentication" card, click the "Enable" button.
• Open your preferred authenticator app on your phone (such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator).
• Scan the displayed QR code with the authenticator app, or manually enter the secret key provided.
• Save your backup codes: download the PDF with the backup codes or copy and store them in a secure place.
• Enter the 6-digit code generated by your authenticator app in the confirmation field and click "Verify and enable".
How to enable Two-Factor Authentication in the app (Android only)
Follow these steps to set up 2FA on your account:
• Go to the "User" page from the sidebar menu. The press on "Settings".
• Press the "Two-factor authentication" card.
• Click on the secret key to copy it.
• Open your preferred authenticator app on your phone (such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator).
• Manually enter the secret key in the authenticator app.
• Return to the app and save your backup codes: download the PDF with the backup codes or copy and store them in a secure place.
• Enter the 6-digit code generated by your authenticator app in the confirmation field and click "Verify and enable".
Backup codes
• During setup, you will receive single-use backup codes.
• Keep these codes safe: they are the only way to access your account if you lose access to your authenticator app or phone.
• Each backup code can only be used once.
Signing in with 2FA
• When logging in, enter your email and password as usual.
• You will be prompted to enter the 6-digit security code generated by your authenticator app (or one of your backup codes).
How to disable Two-Factor Authentication
• Navigate to the "User" page.
• In the Two-factor authentication section, click the "Disable" button.
• Enter a current 6-digit verification code from your authenticator app (or a backup code) to confirm and disable the feature.
